Joan Albert Camprodón Giménez
Universidad de Barcelona – Humboldt University – Harvard Medical School
Born in Barcelona in 1977. I studied Medicine at the University of Barcelona and the Humboldt University in Berlin. I obtained a Master in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. After my medical studies I worked at the Berlin Neuroimaging Center (Charité, Humboldt University). In October 2003 I joined the Center for Non-invasive Brain Stimulation (Harvard Medical School) as a postdoctoral researcher. I’m interested in studying Neural Connectivity and Plasticity in health and disease using different methodologies such as tDCS, TMS, fMRI and their simultaneous combination. My main cognitive interest is the study of the Neural Correlates of Consciousness. My clinical interests are primarily in Translational Neuroscience. In particular, I am combining neuroimaging with neurostimulation to study the role of plasticity in the pathophysiology of addiction and the potential of neuromodulation to reduce drug craving. I am using the same approach to study the mechanisms of stroke recovery, particularly in patients with neglect, and the use of neuromodulation as a rehabilitation technology. Surrounding my scientific work, particularly after completing my MPH, there is a strong interest in the interactions between clinical research and both health and scientific 216 policies.
