Ignacio Marín García
UPF – Research Assistant at the Private Law Department of Universitat Pompeu Fabra
Born in Barcelona in 1982. Mr. Ignacio Marín graduated both in Economics (2004) and Law (2006) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain), where he joined the PhD Program in Private Law. In 2008, he obtained the Diploma on Advanced Studies (DEA), with his research work about penalty clauses in finance contracts.
Since 2007 he benefits from a scholarship awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, in the benchmark of the National Program for the Training of Lecturers. During his stay assisting the Private Law Chair, in addition to his doctoral research about penalty clause directed by Prof. Pablo Salvador, he has also taught civil law in the Business School and tort law in the Law School, he has been coordinator of the electronic law journal InDret (www.indret.com) and he has published several articles about contract law, tort liability and economic analysis of law. One of these articles, “The Judicial Review of Penalty Clauses in Spanish Law”, deserved the Microsoft Prize in the 13th Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Law and Economics Association (ALACDE).
In 2009, Fundación Rafael del Pino granted him a scholarship to study a LLM in UC Berkeley during the course 2010-2011.
