Francisco holds and Industrial Engineering degree from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and an M.B.A. from London Business School  , sponsored by the “la Caixa” Foundation and the Rafael del Pino Foundation.

Mr. Lee is a serial entrepreneur who started his first business at 21 and is currently the CEO and founder of Inspirit Group, a conglomerate of IT companies. During the lunch, Mr. Lee shared with the alumni his experience as entrepreneur, facing everyday challenges and risks with enthusiasm and hard work. Mr. Lee explained how failure can teach as much as success and foster creativity. For Mr. Lee, entrepreneurship is an attitude that must be applied to every aspect of life.

Didac Lee’s Biography

Dídac Lee is the CEO of Inspirit , a international group made up by the following companies: Inspirit Labs (business incubator), Spamina (email security), Conzentra (internet services) and Intercomgi Argentina (development center). Inspirit employs more than 240 people in Gerona, Barcelona, Madrid , Buenos Aires and the Silicon Valley. He is a usual speaker at Barcelona and Gerona Universities and collaborates with the economic section of El Periodico newspaper.

They also took the opportunity to comment on current news and the current social and economic environment.

Sonia Rodriguez, Ana Ariño, Victoria López-Agudo, Iñaki Berenguer, Borja Marcos, Ignacio Marín, Cristian Lucas and Sara Carner attended the event, which was a fun and cheerful dinner in a very Spanish setting, with tapas and sangria included.

It is not an official session of any of the foundation in particular; the event is only a group of ex-scholars of several foundations talking about their experiences, giving practical advice and answering questions from the audience.

The universities “represented” by a speaker in previous events were, among others, Stanford, University of Chicago, Insead, Tilburg, Harvard, Columbia and London Business School, and the scholarship programs represented in previous editions were Caixa, Fulbright, Caja Madrid, Ramón Areces, Rafael del Pino and Barrie de la Maza.

We invite/encourage you to participate in the event. There is no RSVP needed at all.

Member of the Executive Committee of the European Central Bank

The Rafael del Pino Alumni Association and the London Business School Spain Alumni Club have organized next 26 February 2009, at 7 pm in the headquarters of the Rafael del Pino Foundation a conference to be given by the professor José Manuel González-Páramo, Member of the Executive Committee of the European Central Bank.  The conference will be titled “The financial crisis: the role of the ECB and the new regulatory environment”.

José Manuel González-Páramo holds a Ph.D. in Economic Sciences by the Complutense Univiersity of Madrid (1985) and by Columbia University (1986). In 1988 he obtained the chair of Public Finance or Treasury (Hacienda Pública) at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he has given courses on Public Finance, European Economy and Public Management.
His publications and researches have been mostly focused on budgetary policy, the economic effects of public spending and taxes and the costs and benefits of desinflation.
From 1985 to 1994 he held positions as economic advisor and consultant in several public and private institutions; among them the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Fund for the Economic and Social Research Foundation, the Bank of Spain, the European Commission and the World Bank. He has participated in several working groups of the Bank for International Settlements and of the OECD regarding economic and financial matters.
In 1994 he was appointed member of the Governing Council of the Bank of Spain and, in 1998, also of its Executive Commission. As member of these governing bodies, he has been responsible for establishing the guidelines related to monetary policy, economic analysis, preparations for the Economic and Monetary Union and financial supervision.
In 2004 he joined the Executive Committee of the European Central Bank.

The lunch took place on 13 October, at the presidential dining-hall of the Fundación Rafael del Pino. Zuckerberg talked about his entrepreneurial experience and about the future of the Internet social networks and of Facebook as a relationship and collaboration tool with a group of experts and of ex – scholars of the  Rafael del Pino, “la Caixa“, Fulbright, March, Caja Madrid, Ramón Areces and Barriè de la Maza foundations, as well as with post-graduate ex-alumni of MIT, Stanford University, London Business School, Wharton, Columbia and University of Chicago.

MARK ZUCKERBERG’S CV

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg (born on 14 May 1984 in White Plains, United  States) is a computer programmer and businessman of the United States, celebrated for developing the social virtual network known as Facebook in Internet, which is currently one of the most popular worldwide. To develop the network, Zuckerberg was helped by study colleagues of Harvard University and by the computing sciences coordinator Andrew McCollum, as well as by his roommates  Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. Zuckerberg is now the executive manager of Facebook and is currently the youngest person appearing in Forbes magazine.

During this campus, 24 students from all around Spain and Latin America have got together and demonstrated their high capacity to follow several courses on leadership, communication and social abilities, at the same time they were designing their own business. He was 87.

After a life plenty of challenges and success Rafael del Pino decided to retire, and dedicate his last years to the creation of a Foundation which objectives are “the improvement of the knowledge of Spain’s future leaders, the promotion of individual initiative and the promotion of those principles related to free market and free enterprise“. Less than 10 years later the Foundation and its scholarship program are already a reference in Spain. About 130 scholarship recipients have had the opportunity to study in the best Universities in the World thanks to the Foundation’s support.

Rafael del Pino Alumni Association expresses its condolences to Rafael del Pino’s family and friends, and wants to thank once again the economical and personal effort which has boosted the path to achieve our own goals. We hope not to disappoint him.
