Some of the participants were : Arnau Gutierrez-Camps, Fernando Bermejo, Alberto López Toledo y Judit Anido During the evening the following topics, among others,  were discussed: current political situation, the present and future of science and technology in our country and the effects that the economic crisis is having on the population. We hope to meet up again soon and keep analyzing the current situation in such fun and interesting manner.

Some of the people who attended were Carolina García Rizo, Joan Camprodrón, Estefanía Sánchez, José Fillat, Antonio Núñez and Iñaki Berenguer. Among the topics discussed, including entrepreneurship or neuroscience, the current economic crisis could not be left out of the table and several experts gave their point of view: José Fillat (PhD in Economics by the Chicago University) who works at the Boston´s Federal Reserve; Estefanía who has worked at the a href=”http://www.mityc.es/” target=”_blank”>Ministry of Industry as state economist; or Antonio Núñez from IESE who is currently at the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University and shared with us the points of view of several Hardvard professors involved in the American government policies to overcome the crisis. We hope to celebrate many more dinners as interesting as this one!!

Eva lives in Chad, where she works for the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees and displaced persons from the Darfur region of Sudan. During dinner we had the opportunity of Eva telling us about the difficult situation in Chad and Sudan as well as about her job in the management of the refugee camps in Chad.

It is not an official presentation of any of the foundations in particular. Alumni of these foundations will talk about their experiences, give practical advice, and answers questions from the audience.

The universities “represented” by some of the speakers will be Stanford, University of Chicago, Insead, Tilburg, Harvard, Columbia, and London Business School, among others. The fellowship programs represented in previous editions were La Caixa, Fulbright, Caja Madrid, Ramón Areces, Rafael del Pino, and Barrie de la Maza.

You are strongly encouraged to attend the event. There is no RSVP needed at all.

The Fundación Rafael del Pino Scholars Association cooperates since January 2008 with the “Education for Employment Foundation” (EFE), which offers training and help with job search to youths in Muslim countries. The objective of the foundation’s tasks is twofold: to help the economic development of the country and to avoid religious fundamentalisms as much as possible.

EFE was created in 2002 and since then has successfully worked in Jordan, Palestine, Morocco, and Egypt. It has been featured in CNN, Financial Times, and The Economist, and now is implementing its programs in Spain. More information can be found at www.efefoundation.org.

The joint venture with the Fundación Rafael del Pino Scholars Association is framed in the joint pursuit of EFE’s objectives, with two lines of cooperation: providing contacts interested in funding the project and searching for firms willing to offer employment to the youth in the countries where the foundation develops its programs.
