Scholar’s dinner in Barcelona

Last Wednesday 17 of June, since Iñaki Berenguer was visiting Barcelona, a group of scholars and ex – scholars of the Rafael del Pino Foundation got together to have dinner and to get to know each other a little better at the restaurant “Da Greco”.

Some of the participants were : Arnau Gutierrez-Camps, Fernando Bermejo, Alberto López Toledo y Judit Anido During the evening the following topics, among others, were discussed: current political situation, the present and future of science and technology in our country and the effects that the economic crisis is having on the population. We hope to meet up again soon and keep analyzing the current situation in such fun and interesting manner.

Scholars dinner in Boston

Last Thursday, 5 March 2009, the scholars and ex-scholars living in Boston got together at Carolina García´s house (Beacon Hill) to spend some time together with good conversation, wine and tapas.

Some of the people who attended were Carolina García Rizo, Joan Camprodrón, Estefanía Sánchez, José Fillat, Antonio Núñez and Iñaki Berenguer. Among the topics discussed, including entrepreneurship or neuroscience, the current economic crisis could not be left out of the table and several experts gave their point of view: José Fillat (PhD in Economics by the Chicago University) who works at the Boston´s Federal Reserve; Estefanía who has worked at the a href=”http://www.mityc.es/” target=”_blank”>Ministry of Industry as state economist; or Antonio Núñez from IESE who is currently at the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University and shared with us the points of view of several Hardvard professors involved in the American government policies to overcome the crisis. We hope to celebrate many more dinners as interesting as this one!!

Scholars’ dinner in Boston

A group of Fundación Rafael del Pino scholars living in Boston got together last Monday November 17th for dinner at Chestnut 75 (Beacon Hill, Boston) , to welcome the new scholars and meet the old ones again.

The dinner was lots of fun and lasted three hours, but could have gone on for longer if the restaurant hadn’t closed.

Among them, in the picture are Inaki Berenguer, Jose María Pertusa, Antonio Nuñez, Jose Luis Fillat, Cristian Lucas Mas, Carolina García Rizo, Joan Camprodón and Cesar Calvo Medina.

Scholars get together for dinner in London on November 25th

This last November 25th, a large group of scholars from the Fundación Rafael del Pino got together in London for dinner.

They were Albert Bravo Biosca, Carmen Boyero Garrido, Jose Maria Casado Javier Fernández Lobato, Jose Maria Fernandez, Eva Paredes Montejo, Juan Rodríguez Andrade and Gustavo Adolfo Saa Requejo.

Talent and Leadership Campus 2008

Last 11 July took place at the Foundation Rafael del Pino the closing ceremony of the Talent and Leadership campus 2008, as part of the collaboration between the Foundation and CTY España. During this campus, 24 students from all around Spain and Latin America have got together and demonstrated their high capacity to follow several courses on leadership, communication and social abilities, at the same time they were designing their own business. Patricia Gabaldón, scholar 2002, was the academic coordinator of the said campus. See article in “Cinco Días”

While our colleague Itziar Escudero (Scholar 2006) was visiting Spain, we took the opportunity last Tuesday 2nd to organize a dinner of Foundation Rafael del Pino’s scholars and ex – scholars living in Barcelona.
Itziar lives in San Diego where she did a MBA in the University of California (UCSD) and currently she is working as an Associate for PRTM (Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath). During dinner we had the opportunity of Itziar telling us about the current situation of the Biotechnological industry in Spain.

Among those present were Fernando Bermejo de la Calzada (2003), Ana Coello (2003), Joan Daniel Pina Martí (2006), Arnau Gutierrez-Camps (2001), Marc Gratacós (2001), Francesc Queralt (2002), Laura Martínez de Guereñu (2002), Joan Solanes (2007) y Judit Anido (2007).

Note: there are 11 scholars and ex -scholars registered in Boston, studing in Harvard and in MIT.

Itziar Escudero (2006) , Javier Oliván (2006), Rafael López Espinosa (2006) y Carles Vergara-Alert are the 4 scholars/ex –scholars living in California (San Diego, Palo Alto, Stanford and Berkeley respectively).
This week they met for dinner in Burlingame, close to San Francisco, in order to keep setting up the basis of the detachment of the alumni association in the far West coast

Dinner with Eva García Bouzas

Since our colleague Eva García Bouzas (Scholar 2005) was visiting Spain, we took the opportunity to organize a dinner last Monday.
Eva lives in Chad, where she works for the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees and displaced persons from the Darfur region of Sudan. During dinner we had the opportunity of Eva telling us about the difficult situation in Chad and Sudan as well as about her job in the management of the refugee camps in Chad.
