Carlos Rivera Heredia

Carlos was born in Madrid in 1980. Academically, he studied Industrial Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid, graduating second out of the eighty-two Engineers in his major and obtaining the highest score possible (Honors) in the Final Master’s Project. In 2004, he studied a Masters in Fuel Cells being also part of the teaching staff of the Masters. Professionally, Carlos started to work at the CSIC (Spanish Council for Scientific Research), a leading scientific institution in Spain. At the CSIC, Carlos worked on two projects about ecological cars and delivered conferences at national level about clean technologies. For his work, Carlos was granted a scholarship by the Ministry of Science as the number one in Spain. In June 2005, Carlos joined the Engine Tuning Engineering department at Renault, a leading European car manufacturer. At Renault, Carlos developed a record career, leading international teams despite being its youngest member and having responsibility on the best-selling engine of Renault. In order to develop the skills required to be a global leader in the automotive industry, Carlos starts Columbia’s MBA in 2008 financed by a Rafael del Pino Foundation scholarship. Carlos speaks English and French fluently and has basic knowledge of German.
