Rafael del Pino dies at 87

Rafael del Pino y Moreno, Ferrovial Group and Foundation Rafael del Pino’s founder has died. He was 87.

After a life plenty of challenges and success Rafael del Pino decided to retire, and dedicate his last years to the creation of a Foundation which objectives are “the improvement of the knowledge of Spain’s future leaders, the promotion of individual initiative and the promotion of those principles related to free market and free enterprise“. Less than 10 years later the Foundation and its scholarship program are already a reference in Spain. About 130 scholarship recipients have had the opportunity to study in the best Universities in the World thanks to the Foundation’s support.

Rafael del Pino Alumni Association expresses its condolences to Rafael del Pino’s family and friends, and wants to thank once again the economical and personal effort which has boosted the path to achieve our own goals. We hope not to disappoint him.

Scholars go for tapas in New York

A group of Fundación Rafael del Pino scholars living in New York got together on April 10th at Casa Mono (52 Irving Pl.) to get to know each other and have a good time. Thanks to Sonia Rodríguez García (2005 scholar) for organizing the event.

Note: currently, there are 11 Fundación Rafael del Pino scholars residing in New York.

Lunch with Carlos Jiménez

The Fundación Rafael del Pino Scholars Association and the MIT Alumni Association in Spain organized a joint lunch with Mr. Carlos Jiménez. Mr. Jiménez programmed the first antivirus software 19 years ago, is co-founder of Anyware, and founder and president of Secuware (see complete profile below).

The lunch took place on April 8th, in the presidential dining room at the Fundación Rafel del Pino. Mr. Carlos Jiménez shared his vital and entrepreneurial experience with a group of scholars of the Foundations Rafel del Pino, La Caixa, Fulbright, March, Caja Madrid, Ramón Areces, and Barriè de la Maza.
